Dan Skuta played linebacker in the NFL for nine seasons—four of
which were with the Cincinnati Bengals. It was after a successful college
career at Grand Valley State University that Skuta signed with the club, which
gave him his first crack at a professional football career.
As a Cincinnati linebacker from 2009 to 2012, Dan Skuta provided
the Bengals a hardworking, reliable and motivated presence on the defensive
side of the ball. But though Skuta enjoyed playing on the team, he also came to
appreciate what set the Bengals apart from others in the league.
A Unique Team History
- Officially founded in 1966, the Cincinnati
Bengals was established by former Cleveland Browns head coach Paul Brown—a
football legend who would also serve as the Bengals’ head coach from their
inception until 1975.
- The Browns were originally a member of the
American Football League, though they officially joined the NFL, and the
American Football Conference (AFC), as a result of the NFL-AFL merger in 1970.
- The Bengals have won two AFC Championships in their long history, including in 1981 and 1988.
