Former Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Dan Skuta currently
owns and manages a 700-acre recreational ranch – one that offers both hunting
parties and corporate gatherings the opportunity to experience the many facets
of a real-life Texas ranch.
And as ranch owner, Dan Skuta – who spent four seasons with
the Cincinnati Bengals – knows well the challenges that come with managing a
guest-friendly ranch environment. Building and maintaining a successful
recreational or “dude” ranch involves:
- Setting up adequate accommodations, those which will house and
feed large groups of people comfortably throughout the duration of their
stay.
- Planning activities, such as riding horses, cookouts,
overnight campouts and others that provide entertainment and deliver a
real-life ranch experience.
- Planning meals well in advance – something that provides you
and your staff the organization needed to please guests and keep them fed
consistently and efficiently.
- Having a “Plan B,” such as backup activities and contingency plans should something go wrong.
