Now retired from the NFL, former Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker
Dan Skuta turns much of his focus on his 700-acre Texas ranch – a property that
plays host to a variety of hunting and corporate events every year.
And as the owner of a large ranch property, Daniel Skuta has
come to appreciate what it takes not only to manage day-to-day operations, but
the work that goes in making it profitable.
Turning a ranch into a producer requires:
- Matching costs with revenues. By keeping an ever-present eye on the margin between what is spent and what is pulled in every month, you can better predict and adapt to changes in that margin when they come.
- Plan for the worst. As a ranch manager, you must always ask yourself “what if?” By planning for disaster, you’ll be better protected should it ever hit.
